“The people we honor on National First Responders Day aren’t looking for recognition. They’re focused on doing their jobs, saving lives and taking care of their communities.”
NORTHAMPTON, MA / ACCESS Newswire / October 29, 2026 / When a first responder gets the call, their family may not know what's happening or when they'll be back. For Madison, whose father served as a firefighter and paramedic with LA County Fire, that uncertainty taught her that preparedness started at home.
Now pursuing a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis, Madison is also a scholarship recipient of the First Responder Children's Foundation. She remembers the routines that helped her family feel ready. They kept emergency supplies in the garage, knew where to find water during an earthquake and regularly discussed what to do in an emergency. When her dad responded to fires and other incidents, Madison felt proud of the work he was doing to help others.
