Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Oct. 21, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Southern Missouri Bancorp, Inc. (“Company”) (NASDAQ: SMBC), the parent corporation of Southern Bank (“Bank”), today announced preliminary net income for the first quarter of fiscal 2027 of $19.1 million, an increase of $3.4 million, or 22.0%, as compared to the same period of the prior fiscal year. The increase was driven by higher net interest income, lower provision for credit losses (PCL), and higher noninterest income. Preliminary net income was $1.73 per fully diluted common share for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, an increase of $0.35, or 25.4%, as compared to $1.38 per fully diluted common share reported for the same period of the prior fiscal year.

Highlights for the first quarter of fiscal 2027: * Earnings per common share (diluted) were $1.73, up $0.35, or 25.4%, as compared to the same quarter a year ago, and down $0.10, or 5.5%, from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, the linked quarter. During the year-ago quarter, the Company incurred $572,000 of non-recurring consulting expenses related to renegotiation of a significant bank contract, reducing after-tax net income by $444,000, or $0.04 per fully diluted common share, with no similar charges in the current quarter.
