“Since the Section 232 proclamation, customer demand for domestic solar cells and modules has meaningfully risen, and receiving a waiver positions T1 to meet this demand.”
AUSTIN, Texas and NEW YORK, Oct. 22, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- T1 Energy Inc. (NYSE: TE) (“T1,” “T1 Energy,” or the “Company”) announced it has received a waiver from the Department of Commerce that supports our advanced photovoltaic module manufacturing activities and plans to expand U.S. solar cell manufacturing. T1, the largest American-owned manufacturer of silicon-based TOPCon solar modules, requested the expedited waiver to import up to 1.725GW of solar cells to facilitate uninterrupted manufacturing at T1’s G1_Dallas solar module facility in order to meet existing and expected contracted demand.
The waiver relates to the Trump Administration’s Section 232 proclamation in August that takes decisive steps to prevent market dumping and price manipulation of imported polysilicon and solar products derived from polysilicon. T1 unequivocally supports the proclamation and believes the Commerce Department’s action strengthens American manufacturing and provides a foundation for a thriving domestic solar industry. T1 requested the waiver to ensure access to necessary solar cells for a limited duration while construction on the 2.1 GW Phase 1 of the Company’s G2_Austin solar cell fab in Rockdale, Texas continues. T1 expects to produce the first solar cells at G2 in the first quarter of 2027.
