Trump announces ‘AI Force’ as industry leaders urge AI safeguards

President Trump said he would create an “AI Force” focused on artificial intelligence, raising the prospect of federal oversight as industry leaders urged safeguards and voters opposed local data centers.

Trump also said he was recruiting an AI “czar.” He previously appointed investor David Sacks as his AI and crypto czar, before Sacks stepped down to become co-chair of the president’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
